The View From Here
Produced by Duane Allen Harlick
The View From Here is literally a lifelong project begun in college, put down and picked up over many years, always 'in progress,' but without much hope of ever being completed.
And then, I almost died.
In February 2010, I was in an automobile accident that no one thought I would survive.
Crawling back from that was my full-time job for a long time. And even though I couldn't play or sing, let alone remember my songs, I made a vow to myself that I would finish an album of my music so it wouldn't die with me....so that my kids would have a legacy of the best of me...so that I might make someone smile.
It was another 5 years before I was able to open a box that contained a whole slew of shrink-wrapped jewel cases with my name on them. That time was full of frustration, joy, laughter and tears; struggling just to breathe, see and hear, vocal and physical (and mental) therapy. And a whole lot of support and encouragement. When I say this album is a labor of love, you'll understand why.
I feel the emotions you'd expect to feel when you've finally conquered an elusive goal. But while finishing the album is amazing, the real take-away I'm left with is the gift of the journey. Along the way, I managed to write some new songs, work with some incredible people and capture moments that will stay with me long after this site fades away.
The View From Here is just what it sounds like - a perspective culled together over a few decades of living; my small 'biopic"set to music with some chapters yet to be completed. It may seem odd to call it my Debut album after all these years. But the term suggests a follow-up that I once thought impossible...so there it is.
I hope you find something in the music to enjoy!
Thanks for listening,
Debut Release
