Lindy

Lindy saw her lover, the early part of summer
He was walking past the window, on his arm there was another
And the bus was waiting for her
So she watched him as he laughed and turned the corner

They had been together, the first part of September
He had seen her at the movie, in the dark her eyes were shining
Though she’d seen it once before, the tears fell just the same
He asked her name

And in between the scene, she saw a mirror for a stage
And a leading role she’s always wanted to play

A breeze blew by the garden; she bent to see a flower
The bloom tipped toward the sidewalk
The minutes turned to hours
He was down the road again, playing baseball with the friends
She’d come to know

The question rose again, was this another road to end
Would it always be this way?

Chorus
Lindy, come with me; I’ll build you a castle by the sea
Ask me where we’re going, I don’t know just where or how
But I’ll never let you down

The night grew deathly quiet, she watched him from the corner
He had said that he was leaving, he was too tired now to bother
Though she might have been a beauty, the movie ends the same

Show after show

And in between the scene, she saw a mirror for a stage
And a leading role she’d always have to play

Chorus [Repeat 2x]
Believe me when I tell you, this is where you want to go
I’ll take you down the road…
